*
No need to type any callsign on a launched search engine: the callsign
is grabbed
directly from a clicked DX spot.
*
New "Iota info" item added in the "Ham Info" Menu; you can double click
any Iota code
in any DXTelnet window and a popup window will tell you all about the clicked
Iota

(but more difficult for the user)
IRC commands.
* CQDX-IRC can be reached via radio with
DX-TNC.
* New spot search function in the
"Ham Info" menu.

windows are displayed, with
different text colors.

From 4.4 to 4.5
What's new in DXTelnet 4.5:
* Added full support and enhancements to
the new DX-Cafe node (listed as
DXT-Chat in the site list).
This is the most important new for this
version.
The DX-Cafe site is kindly maintained by
F1NGP, Yann, who runs a 24H Inet
link on a Win NT workstation; multiple
instances of DXTelnet are kept active
on this machine, each instance being connected
to a different spot
source; there is a "dx-robot" session collecting
all the info filtering
dupes and resending them on the DX-Cafe'
channel, on the ham converse network.
Spots are retransmitted in a shrinked format
(to save bandwith), this format
is now fully supported and locally reexpanded
by DXTelnet.
The shrinked format, anyway, is fully readable
by other applications.
The very nice thing is that this channel
can even be reached via RF by
packet radio users, not only via Internet
(remember: Internet sucks in
Europe...).
The dx-robot session is currently tuned
on two ham chat servers: hydra and
migate; if one of the two server fails,
the connection is automatically
switched to the other one.
The dx-robot session behaves as a server;
it welcomes incoming users with a
logon banner; it also provides very basic
but useful services; supported
commands are:
sh/dx (to retrieve the latest 10 dx spots)
sh/wwv (to retrieve the latest WWV announcement)
!dx freq call [remark] (to submit a DX-Spot;
the spot goes directly to
OH2BUA's DXSUMMIT web page)
!ann announcement text (to submit an announcement;
the ann goes directly to
OH2BUA's DXSUMMIT web page, please use
this command with care)
Other commands are:
/US 107 (to list other users)
/WR CALL text (to send a private talk to
another user)
/EX (to quit DX-Cafe)
/H (to get help on supported commands)
Anything you type, if not a private talk,
is seen by other users... this is
useful for common dx related chat (discussions
about skeds, pile ups, qsl
info, dxpeds, propagation and other).
The new DX-cafe site is a MUST for the
serious DXer.
* The function retrieving the latest 425 bulletin has been updated.
* Improved support of the ham converse chat
server (better recognition and
selection of incoming talks).
* Improved support of the CQDX-IRC site:
better management of talks and full
support of non coloured graphics; the site
address info have been updated,
some specific CQDX related macros have
been added (Alt+0 .. Alt+9); private
talk to outside world are now correctly
windowed by Mirc; a soft
disconnection routine avoids abrupt disconnections
and related errors.
Here's how to get to new CQDX-IRC with
an old version of DXtelnet:
1) Select CQDX-IRC from the site list
2) Press the Edit button
3) replace the existing address:
newyork.ny.us.undernet.org
with the new one:
Vicksburg.MS.US.Othernet.Org
4) replace the port number 6660- with 6667
5) press OK to save, quit and restart DXTelnet.
* Improved support of sound Alerts in DX-Plorer (a couple of bugs fixed)
* Improved web refresh on DX-Plorer avoiding most of the connection timeouts.
* Updated CTY.DAT file, by courtesy of Jim, AD1C.
* Upgrade of the site list entries to include
new sites and remove some
obsolete ones.
*Added a special spot filter rejecting old
info falling outside a +/- 15
minutes time window, centered around the
current system time; this filter
can be toggled ON/OFF from "Configuration"
> "Filters" and is very useful to
clean the garbage created by huge spot
loops, especially during the main
contests.
Before activating this filter, be sure
that your PC time and the zone offset
have been properly set;
Example: If your PC normally runs the UTC
time, the zone offset value should
be set to 0 (the zone offset can be changed
in DXTelnet in "Configuration" >
"Personal Info") if your PC runs the local
time and you live in the US, the
zone offset should be set to a value of
+5 (or close), -1 in Rome (the
offset is the difference UTC-Local).
From 4.3 to 4.4
* A double QSL manager Info database has
been added to the "Ham Info" menu
(shortcut: Shift+F9, Ctrl+F9)
* The latest solar flux report can be retrieved
online from the "Ham Info"
menu (shortcut: Shift+F11)
* The latest 425 DX bulletin can be retrieved
online from the "Ham Info"
menu (shortcut: Shift+F12)
* DXSummit's new IRC channel is supported
(the site named DXS-IRC); this
site emulates a real cluster.
Read the tips in the logon banner,
to get the most from it (talks, DX and
ANN submission and much
more).
This new feature allows you to get
DXSummit's spots REAL TIME !!!
From 4.0 to 4.1
From 4.0to 4.1
* The 4.0 patch new features have been
included in a stand alone 4.1 version
(DXT41ENG.EXE), to make installation
easier
* A "Rolling Demo" icon has been added,
making it possible to show how
DXTelnet works without needing any
real Internet connection (useful
for convention shows);demo spots
are retrieved from DEMO.TXT in the
\ARCHIVE subdirectory; the first
line of this files contains a number
of seconds to adjust how frequently
demo spots should appear.
* Now you can get alerts not only on spotted
callsigns but also on any incom
ing string (including DX Spots remark
fields) by specifying the alerted
string immediately followed by an
exclamation character "!";
Example:
On a new line of the alert text box,,
type JN64!
Then save; in this case an alert
will be executed each time the string JN64
is received anywhere (spots, talks,
announcements); this is useful, for
instance, for locator (or IOTA) alerts
in DX spots remark fields.
* A UTC clock has been added on the upper
right side of the title bar; the
Local - UTC time gap must be set
in the "Personal Info" configuration menu
* An "Adjust PC Clock" option has
been added to the "Options" menu; this
option allows the user to set the
PC's exact UTC time and date retrieved
from the NASA reference site (or
any other site set in TIMESYNC.TXT).
From 3.3 to 4.0

OH2BUA's fantastic web cluster has
moved to a new site; its new name is

This patch supports the new site,
plus it is now possible to submit
